AS A Christian, I do not agree with the idea of homosexuality. That’s the reality. I can’t put it any other way. I certainly could never change my views that homosexuality is a perversion, because it is a perversion.

That’s the view of Federal Liberal candidate Pastor Peter Curtis, who added that gays die of disease at many times the rate of heterosexuals.curtis.jpg

Standing for the second time as the Liberals’ candidate in the safe Labor seat of Lalor against Labor’s deputy leader Julia Gillard, Mr Curtis said he was still hoping gays and lesbians would vote for him, according to a report yesterday in the Sunday Age.

In 2003, Mr Curtis said a decision by the Uniting Church to allow the ordination of homosexual ministers was a slap in the face for Christ “and a blow to those people struggling to escape from the miserable and unhappy lifestyle of someone engaged in homosexual practice”.

Curtis said his view that gay men were many more times likely to die from disease than heterosexuals was supported by several passages of scripture, and that he was simply stating the truth.

Homosexuality certainly does open up the door to things that are not helpful.

Of course it does. It exposes gay people to ignorant bigots like you - you prat!

Curtis is an assistant pastor in the evangelical Southland Christian Centre at Hoppers Crossing, who also wants to see the teaching of Intelligent Design introduced into Australian schools

Our man in Australia, Nigel Sinnott, comments:

I wonder if there is an effective way of treating homophobia politica Christiana (political Christian homophobia). As for gay men dying from disease, well, I suspect that, in the Age of Faith, hardly any gay men died of disease: they were put to death by Christians! (Just off the top of my head, I think male homosexual behaviour was subject to the death penalty in England until about 1600 — possibly until 1700; and in some Muslim countries, you can still be executed for it.)

  1. At least he makes no secret of his views, foolish as they may be. That is better than hiding them until safely elected. If he is elected, it will be the fault of the electors.

I am intrigued as to why he would think that members of the gay community would vote for him. That surely reveals a rather tenuous grasp of reality.

  2. Interestingly, that is the gayest (as in most stereotypically homosexual) photograph pose I’ve ever seen. Where is the dead animal he killed this morning? Where is the doting Barbie wife?

“Throw your hair back, Jeff. Give us a twinkly eye. Now, blow a kiss to Barbara! A kiss to Barbara!

    Got it, you beauty!”

    Methinks thou doth, etc. etc.

  3. I dunno about you lot, but I’d say that was the expression of a man easing himself onto a large dildo!

  4. love
