SCOTTISH Christians are predictably angry after two bishops in England were nominated for Stonewall’s award of Bigot of the Year.

CARE Scotland want the country’s Executive to stop workingnichols-vincent-archbofbr.jpg with Stonewall after the Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham, Vincent Nichols (63, left), and the C of E Bishop of Hereford, Anthony Priddis (58, right, below), were nominated – along with Jeremy Clarkson, Ian Paisley Jr and Patricia KcKeever, a Roman Catholic activist.

According to an article in Pink News, CARE Scotland’s priddis-anthony-bish-of-h.jpgparliamentary officer, Gordon McDonald, is miffed that the Scottish Executive spend money with Stonewall to help fight homophobia – and he’s written to the First Minister Alex Salmond to tell him so.

Priddis’s latest act of bigotry was to have vetoed the appointment of a youth officer in his diocese because the man is gay. And Nichols was nominated “for speaking out against new goods and services protections for gay people”, says Pink News, and “threatening to close welfare services and adoption agencies unless the government agreed to sweeping exemptions”.
