THE despicable fundamentalist morons who make up the congregation of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, have signalled their intention of picketing the funeral of Australian actor Heath Ledger, 28, who was found dead earlier this week in New York.
The Rev Fred Phelps’ vile outfit, which operates the God Hates Fags website, decided to target Heath’s funeral because he:
Misused the giant megaphone given to him by God Almighty to speak the truth about fags and instead used his position of prominence to say God is a liar and that homosexuality is not an abomination.
They were referring to Ledger’s role in the award-winning movie, Brokeback Mountain.
Ledger, for the record, was not gay.
The time and location of the Ledger’s funeral remain unknown, but it is widely believed it will take place in the actor’s native Australia.
George Amado, the general manager of New York City’s Frank E Campbell funeral home, told The Associated Press that funeral arrangements for the actor are complete and his relatives are expected to arrive in New York City today.
He refused to elaborate further, saying, “The family doesn’t want us to give out any information.”
Said Shirley Phelps-Roper, daughter of the church’s controversial founder:
They are going to try and hide the body like a bunch of ghouls so we can’t protest. The only thing in this country people worship more than filthy sex acts is the dead.
A press release posted to the church’s website reads:
Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there – besides which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential.

Not only do they have no respect for the dead, they also have no respect for the horrible effect this must be having on Heath Ledger’s bereaved family or the notion that discretion at times of mourning is best for all concerned. They seek to actively traumatise his family, which includes his ex-wife and his two-year-old. In short, why aren’t these sadists in prison yet? This is surely harassment.
These people are just the trolls of real life. Ignore them and they lose their power.
I’ve always felt exactly the same Cal. Taking such obsessive glee in rubbing salt in the wounds of the recently bereaved (as the gay or ‘fag enabler’ being buried won’t even know anything about it!) makes them about as evil as people can get without technically breaking the law.
