Religion stinks! There! Said it! Tee-hee! Glad we’ve got that out of the way before we can’t say it any more. Well, that may be very far off – or maybe not. It depends on how big an ear the United Nations gives to Kuwait’s call for all criticism of religion to be banned – internationally.
“Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi called Sunday for the passing of international legislation penalizing those who insult heavenly religions or religious icons,” says the Kuwait Times.
Speaking to KUNA [the story continues] on the sidelines of the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUOICM), he said the Kuwaiti parliament had adopted such a proposal at the meeting of the Arab Interim Parliament (AIP), where it was approved with consensus.
It was again proposed at the Islamic Parliamentary Union in Malaysia and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Indonesia last year. Al-Kharafi hoped the Kuwaiti proposal would receive the required support at the IPU meeting, set to be held in South Africa, following which it would be referred to the UN for approval. Moreover, he stressed the importance of the meetings he has held with a number of heads of Islamic delegations to coordinate over the agenda of the 10th PUOICM meeting and nominations for a secretary general.
So now you know. Vent your spleen now and get all those religious insults into the comment box below.
The Freethinker is giving away a super first prize of an imaginary friend to the reader who comes up with the most imaginative insult. Let’s make it a bit more difficult and say we’re banning taboo words such as the F and the C, and see how we get on. The winner will be announced on God TV on the eve of the Rapture.
