But Christians hate families -esepcially loving, protective and functional ones!
Once you start looking, you find case after case of families who object to church workers trying to screw up their kids or otherwise muscle in on family life being told to leave churches where those familes have worshipped for generations, sometimes even losing jobs and houses or being run out of town for reporting sex abuse by clergy.

This frightens me. They're probably one of those nut-job schools that bans the Harry Potter books because they teach kids to be gay!

Further to what 'Me' says, I am particularly sick of the way fundies try to convince the public that tolerance towards gay people is all about ruination. A frequent example is the phrase 'anti-family', as if 'family' is the wholesome antithesis of 'homosexual' and that they cannot co-exist.

'What the government is trying to do in their policies on homophobia is to address schools’ ‘heteronormative’ or ‘heterosexist’ culture.'

Gosh, so schools may no longer go on the pretend presumation that all their pupils are heterosexual! Live in the real world Finigan!

'Nobody wants to see kids calling each other nasty names or bullying people in any way. But...'

'... if it's them poofters getting persecuted it's okay by us because we're bigots. But we haven't got to say it aloud because we white bigots have to be careful. I envy all those Muslim lads, so I do. They can just come out with any old mad hate-filled stuff they want! Fair play to them.'

I've always disliked the term "pro-homosexual", or the claim that gay rights groups "promote homsexuality".

The wording completely changes the focus of the groups. It makes the claim that gay rights groups are dedicated to spreading homosexuality which sounds fairly nefarious (I would not want anyone "promoting homosexuality" to me, just as I wouldn't want anyone promoting heterosexuality... people are who they are), and to the audience that these people write for... that's all that's needed to sway their emotions, and thus their opinions, on the matter.

Gay rights groups promote (most of them at least, there's bound to be some crazy fringe group that really is dedicated to making everyone gay) the acceptance of homosexuality; they do not try to make people gay, they just try to make sure that people who *are* gay aren't ridiculed by the community.

The fact that they have to misrepresent the facts to get people to support their cause annoys me far more than their cause itself. If they at least had the courage to just come out and say "we hate gay people because this book tells us", at least they'd be being honest.
